Evidence is inconclusive on a possible association between the use of oral bisphosphonates and an increased risk for esophageal cancer, the FDA said Thursday. The agency added that there are “insufficient data” to recommend endoscopy for asymptomatic patients taking the drugs.
As part of its ongoing safety review, the FDA looked at two analyses from the U.K. General Practice Research Database one study found no increase in risk with bisphosphonates, while the other found twice the risk for esophageal cancer in patients who filled at least 10 prescriptions or who used bisphosphonates for 3 or more years.

FRIDAY, July 22 Teenage boys who have a parent serving in the military are more likely than civilians children to binge drink, use drugs and perform poorly in school, a new study suggests.
When a parent goes to war, teenagers well-being is threatened, and boys may be more at risk than girls, researchers at the University of Washington School of Public Health reported.
There is a lot of research about veterans and active-duty soldiers, and how they cope or struggle when they return from a deployment, study author Sarah C. Reed said in a university news release. Those studies hit the tip of the iceberg of how families are coping and how their children are doing.
In 2007, nearly 2 million children in the United States had at least one parent serving in the military.

Strep throat is caused by the infection of a Group A bacterium called streptococcus and it is often confused with sore throat and tonsilitis. Strep throat can develop into sore throat, but not always. Tonsilitis happens when the tonsil is reddened, inflamed and become sore. This term doesn’t define an infection but it is used collectively for any tonsils inflammation. This disease can happen to anyone. Strep throat has some characteristic symptoms; however some others may be easily confused with order illnesses.
Sore throat is a very common symptom of strep throat; however, people who have strep throat don’t experience soreness on their throat. Sore throat isn’t accompanied with coughing, sneezing or other common cold-related symptoms.
